DONNA J. “GRANDMA” HEINZER

Donna Jean Heinzer, 90, of Massillon, died surrounded by her family, Saturday, May 14 following a brief illness at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton. Donna was born in Canton, OH on March 4, 1926, a daughter of the late Harry and Marie Hersel Reiner. She had attended Lincoln High School. In retirement, she worked at the Cameo Grill in Massillon where she was known to all as “Grandma.” Donna was a resident of Bradley Place, in Massillon, where she enjoyed spending time with her friends and neighbors. Although a Massillon resident, she was a devout McKinley Bulldog Fan and enjoyed wearing her red and black corsage one Saturday every fall. Donna was a lifetime member of VFW post 3124 in Massillon and an avid Bingo player. She was preceded in death by her son, Elmer “Butch” Heinzer; daughters, Rosie Smith and Mary “Taffy” Randall; brother, Elmer Reiner; sister, Margie Swonger; and two grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Roy (Linda) Heinzer of Canton, Joe (Judy) Heinzer of Massillon, and Jeric Beaudry of Canton; daughters, Susie Wade and Bill Long, Boni Starcher, Cindy Griffith and Shirley Jacobs, Penny Lunsford, Tina (Rick) Plot, all of Massillon, Candy (Larry) Werstler of Beach City, and Beth Jasinski and Joe Cuerbo of Naples, FL; 37 Grandchildren; 84 Great Grandchildren; Numerous Great Great Grandchildren; and her cat Muffin. Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 4-7 at Wackerly Funeral Home where a service will be held at 7:00 pm with Fr. Thomas G. Bishop officiating. Family interment will be held on Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery, Massillon.
