Dorothy V DiBattista, Lindsey Mossor

June 22, 1931 ~ April 18, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Dorothy V. DiBattista, Lindsey Mossor,

age 85, of Canton died Tuesday April 18, 2017 following an extended illness. Born in Canton she was the daughter of the late Vincent & Bambina (Fantini) DiBattista. She was a 1949 graduate of Lincoln High School. She worked at several area restaurants including the Brown Derby and Holiday Inn before retiring from L.T.V. Steel. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband: Gerald L. Mossor who died in 2011; brother: Anthony DiBattista ; sister: Lena Kelp and former husband: Robert G. Lindsey Sr. who died in 2011 She is survived by her children: Gary (Cindi) Lindsey, Janice (Ross) Fiorello, Robert (Connie) Lindsey Jr., Joyce (Jeff) Brinkley, Jon (Cindy) Lindsey; sisters: Dolly Sirgo, Rose Marchand, Mary DiBattista; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.

When life threw Dorothy a curveball, she wasn't one to back down from the challenge. She endured more than any one person should have to, and she did it with grace and dignity. Her life was an example of the strength and resiliency of the human spirit. And at the core of her every action was doing what she thought was best for her family.

A diligent worker, always willing to take on whatever jobs were necessary to make ends meet, Dorothy's greatest work -- and greatest joy -- was taking care of her family. No sacrifice was too big when it meant providing for her children. And of course that generosity grew when her grandchildren came along.

The grandchildren will delight in memories of celebrating her June birthday at family parties, splashing in the kiddie pool, swinging from the tire swing, playing ball, and enjoying good food and even better company.

Dorothy was a believer in tough love. She was exceedingly proud of her kids and grandkids, but she always encouraged them to push themselves just a little bit further, never wanting anyone to settle for less than their best. She wasn't one to sugarcoat things, but she also had a heart of gold.

She loved to write. With every birthday, holiday, or milestone (and sometimes "just because") came a handwritten note in her signature cursive handwriting. The only thing better was when she got her computer and learned to use the card making software and printer. Then those notes were written on beautiful cards she designed herself with love.

Ever selfless, her first question was always "How are you?" She'd then proceed to inquire about the wellbeing of your spouse, child, in-laws, etc. As the years passed that genuine concern carried over to her fellow residents, the nurses and staff at the nursing home,.

Though she no longer enjoyed many of her favorite pastimes later in life, she continued to take great joy in the visits and tales of her family. And nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than the sight of a baby. Her room was a shrine to them, filled with photos of her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson.

They are her legacy and will carry on her strength, loyalty, and love.
