Evelyn J. LePore

Evelyn J. LePore, age 95 passed away on Sunday November 19, 2017 at the Canton Regency.

She was the daughter of the late Mary C. (Ritz) & Samuel A LePore. She was a life resident of Canton, a life member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Ladies Guild/Women’s Club, St. Peter’s Altar Rosary Society and was in the first graduation class of Timken High School in 1940 . Evelyn worked in the credit departments at Hallies and Polsky Department Stores where she was the assistant credit manager and later credit associate retiring in 1978 with 38 years combined service. She later worked at Stern and Mann’s Department Store retiring in 1992 with a total of 14 years of service. Evelyn was involved in civic life as she was President of the Canton Civic Club. In 1973 she was presented with the Credit Executive Award from the Credit Executive Club of Canton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Sister Mary Lucille SND and Dorothy LePore. She is survived by her cousins, Roberta Felton and Sandy Maiorana; also surviving are close friends Carlana Chapman , Jim Woofter, Pat Weber, Sue Fall, Marty Howard and neighbors Tim and Jackie Hisrish. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am in St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Witmer who grew up as a neighbor of Evelyns as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 9:45 am in the Wackerly Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in Evelyn’s name to the Sisters of Notre Dame, 13000 Auburn Rd, Chardon, Oh 44024 or St Peters School Scholarship Fund.
