Nancy L. Scott, 74, of Canton, died surrounded by her family, Saturday, September 3, following a sudden illness.  She was born in White Cloud, MI, on March 6, 1942, the daughter of the late Raymond T. and Veronica T. Olenski Saxen.  Nancy was a 1959 graduate of Canton Central Catholic, received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Ohio University, and earned a Master in Education from Kent State University.  Nancy taught first grade with Canton City Schools and in the Cleveland area.  She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, served with the Hope Ministry Team, and acted as a Eucharistic Minister for over 20 years.  Nancy was also a member of The Stark County Dental Auxiliary.  Her notable artistic talent was expressed through several paintings, needlepoint, knitting, jewelry and handmade clothing given to family and friends.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond T. Saxen, Jr.  She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dr. Frederic K. Scott, whom she married August 7, 1965; sons, Frederic R. (Arleen) Scott, Victor Michael Scott, and Dr. John (Stacey) Scott; grandchildren, Keagan, Preston, Madison, and Spencer Scott; brothers, Dr. Ronald J. (Janet) Saxen and Dr. Mark A. (Beth) Saxen; and many nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 4-8 pm, at Wackerly Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Donald E. King celebrating, and Fathers Robert A. Kaylor, Thomas Cebula,  Ronald M. Klingler, and Frank A. Carfagna concelebrating.  Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, OH.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s name to the Central Catholic High School Scholarship Fund.  Our family especially thanks doctors Elena Norch, Russell Ramey, and Alan Rudick, as well as ICU staff at Mercy Medical Center for their sincerity, compassion, and honesty.
