Norman J. Nicola,

age 74, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Canton died February 7, 2018 in Florida following a brief illness. He passed away peacefully with his wife, daughters, sisters and Goddaughter by his side. Born in Canton he was the son of the late George & Elsie (Shannon) Nicola, was a graduate of Central Catholic High School class of 1961 and the University of Notre Dame. For over 45 years he worked in the insurance and investment sales industry. He was a man devoted to God with unwavering conviction. His memberships include St. Michael Catholic Church, the Notre Dame Club of Canton, the University of Notre Dame Monogram Club, the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, the St. John Gospel Forum Group of Fort Myers, Rotary Club of Fort Myers, SCORE and served on the Walsh University Advisory Board. He was a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church and served as president of the St. Peter's Men's Club/Holy Name Society. He is survived by his wife Judie (Mercer) Nicola of the home; daughters: Gina Nicola of Lakewood, OH, Anne (Steve) Gwin of Phoenix AZ, Jennifer (Eric) Belin of Chesapeake, VA; sisters: Bobbi Pete of Canton, Patti Francis of Parma; sister-in-law: Rebecca Nicola of Oro Valley, AZ; grandchildren Jacob, Grant, Brandon, Alex, Andrew, Peter and Daniel and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother: Charles Nicola. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday March 3, at 1:00 pm in St. Michael Catholic Church with Fr. Donald E. King as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in St. Michael Church. Donations may be made in his name to the House of Loreto.
