Stephen P. Tomic,
age 94, of East Canton died Sunday August 7, 2016 following a brief illness. Born in Wyden WV he had lived in the Stark County area most of his life. He was a graduate of Timken High School, served in the U.S. Air Force and was the owner and operator of Atomic Transmission. He was a member of St. Mary/St. Benedict Catholic Parish, Canton Council, K of C #341, the Croatian Lodge #514, the over “50” club, the Croatian Friends Tamburitzan Group, the International Garage Association where he served as president and was very involved in a I.G.A. float for the first Pro Football Hall of Fame Parade. He was preceded in death by his wife: Frances Tomic; brother: Andy Tomic and sister: Anne Gerzina. He is survived by his sons: Stephen Tomic of Phoenix, AZ, Paul (Kathy) Tomic of North Canton, Frank (Barb) Tomic of Austintown, James (Leslie) Tomic of Henderson, NV; daughter: Frances Tomic of Canton; brother: John (Carolyn) Tomic of TN; sister: Mary Tomic of Canton; grandchildren: Patrick, Jessica and Daniela. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday at 10 am at St. Mary/St. Benedict Catholic Parish in St. Benedict Church with Fr. Benson Opkara as celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 pm in the Wackerly Funeral Home.
