Walter M. Shearrow 1935-2017
Walter Mark Shearrow, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on July 4th, surrounded by family, from the complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Sarah Krause Shearrow, and three brothers, Herbert Jr, Edward and William.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen (Boron), one son Walter Jr (Tammy) Shearrow of Lovettsville VA, two daughters, Cynthia (Dan) Kieffer of Hartville, and Lorna (Douglas) Barker of Charleston SC, one sister, Sally Heflin of Canton, and ten grandchildren, Sarah, Jonathan, Nicholas, Benjamin, Jacob, Alexander, Andrew, Lara, Daryn and Dylan.
Walter graduated from McKinley High School and is a veteran of the U. S. Army. He retired from Republic Steel with 30 years of service. He was the owner-operator of Canton Skateland Roller Rink in the 60’s and the owner-operator of a Dairy Queen restaurant in the Belden Village area in the 80’s. He loved to promote Dairy Queen cakes and was a leader of cake sales nationwide.

The rosary will be recited Friday at 9:00 AM at Little Flower Catholic Church in Middlebranch, calling hours from 9:30 to 11:00 AM, with Mass of Christian burial with Fr. Leo Wehrlin as celebrant following, all at the church. Burial with military honors will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
