Donna Therese Wackerly

passed away with peace and grace with her family by her side on December 4, 2017. Donna was 84 years young & was born January 19, 1933, in Louisville, Ohio, to Hilda & Joseph Bresson.

Donna was preceded in death by her adoring husband James Wackerly, father Joseph Bresson, mother Hilda, sisters Eileen, Betty, Mary, Rita & Agnes, & brothers Bob & Jim.

After marrying she devoted her energies to raising her seven wonderful children & their families; Mindi Beitler (Michael), Richard Wackerly (Kelly), Paul Wackerly (Jean), Suzanne Schwitzgable (David), Janet Brenner (Michael), Thomas Wackerly (Patty), & Jared Wackerly (Maria), as well as 17 endearing grandchildren; Mark, Mitch (Courtney) & Matt Beitler, Kaitlyn Chiavari (Jeffrey), Megan Wackerly, Bret Wackerly (Kristen), Greg (Katie) & Sarah Schwitzgable, Aimee Lirgg (Jeremy), Therese, Joe (Katie) & Trisha Brenner, James & Mary Wackerly, Jared (Danielle), Nicole & John Wackerly, as well as twelve loving great-grandchildren. Donna also leaves behind her beloved sisters Peggy Gallucci (Dale), Elinor Samblanet, Marilyn Radalia, & Carilyn Michel, a large loving family & many dear friends.

In addition to being a beloved wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, she was a dedicated member to Christ the Servant Parish for over 50 years. We can proudly say that she was devoted to her faith, family & friends. She loved gardening & baking, but she found a sense of purpose in helping those in need. She had a mental toughness & grit that built the foundation for her beautiful family. She was a strong, proud woman who demonstrated the courage to live according to her core values, while always leading by example, despite any circumstances. She had an ability to help one recognize the abundant blessings in every day, & she celebrated those blessings of family & friendships by extending her home often for parties, cookouts, campouts & just about any reason to bring loved ones together in celebration. Family was everything to her.

Calling hours will be at Christ the Servant Parish on 38th St NW, in Canton, Ohio, on Friday, December 8, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:00am at Christ the Servant Parish with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano as celebrant, & the burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, followed by lunch at Christ the Servant. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Donna T. Wackerly to the St. Joseph Care Center &/or Akron Canton Regional Foodbank. With special appreciation & gratitude to the amazingly devoted staff at St. Joseph’s Care Center in Louisville & the Crossroads Hospice team for their wonderful care.
