Helen Volak Scott, 92, of Canton, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton, Ohio. Helen was born June 3, 1926 in Canton to the late Michael and Frances Rozum Volak. She was a graduate from the first graduating class of Lincoln High School in 1943. After graduation, Helen went to work for the Harter Bank. While working there, she met her husband, Eugene “Scotty”, whom she married February 19, 1949. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She loved decorating cakes for her family, was an avid bowler, a fierce competitor when it came to Scrabble, Shanghai, and cards, and she loved to do the daily crossword and word jumble. Helen was also a volunteer with the Stark County Board of Elections for over 30 years in Jackson Township. She was preceded in death by her husband Scotty; Brothers, Michael Volak and Julian Wolak; and Sister, Mary Lampe. She is survived by her son, Ralph (Darla) Scott of Canton; daughter, Jeanne (Mark) Boucher of Dayton, OH; Grandsons, Michael Scott, Adam Scott, and Jeffrey Scott; Granddaughters, Julie Scott, Lauren Boucher, Jackee Calhoun, and Ashley Zimmerman; and her Great Grandson, Haden Scott. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, in St. Michael Catholic Church in Canton with Fr. Donald E. King as celebrant. Friends will be received in the church Gathering Space from 10:30 A.M until time of Mass. Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery, in Massillon, OH.
