Barbara Ann Scott

Age 92, passed away Sunday August 4, 2024 following an extended illness. A life long resident of the Canton area she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Florence (Wackerly) Joliat. She was a 1951 graduate of Central Catholic High School, a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and a former member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed volunteering, gardening, entertaining and all Cleveland sports teams. She is survived by her sons: William (Shelly) Scott of Amelia Island, FL, David Scott of East Sparta; daughters: Linda (Dana) Dieterich of Fort Mill. SC, Laura (Jim) Connelly of Avon Lake, OH, Janet (Jon) Smitek of Port Clinton, OH, Kathryn (Christina Ashley) Pontzer of Wilmington, NC; brother, D. Pierre (Jean) Joliat of Canton; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Scott; brothers: Richard Joliat, Victor Joliat, Bernard Joliat; sister, Beatrice Keffler and son-in-law: Christopher Pontzer. Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be Friday August 23, 2024 at 11:00 am in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Fr. Scott Kopp as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. For those unable to attend the funeral mass, please join the family at 12:30 pm Friday at LaPizzaria, 3656 Dressler Road NW, Canton, OH 44718 for a luncheon and fellowship.
