Cathy Monastra
Catherine M. (Baughman) Monastra passed peacefully from this world on Feb. 28, 2025. She was born in Canton to Richard and Margaret (Fulton) Baughman on Aug. 12, 1939. Cathy graduated from Jackson High School and started a family soon after. She worked various jobs over the years but found her niche selling Ford vehicles, most notably at Downtown Ford. She enjoyed the fast-paced competition and the opportunity to build friendships with clients and meet their needs. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, a son Ron Schembechler, sisters Lynda Lutz and Karen D’Aurelio, and brother-in-law Bill Baldridge. She is survived by sons Ray (Maggie) Schembechler and Rich (Kerrie) Schembechler, and a sister GeorgeAnne Baldridge. Also surviving are grandchildren Richie (Emily) Schembechler, Tayler Schembechler & Ray Schembechler (fiancé Olivia Diruzza), and 2 great-grandchildren. Cathy had a quick wit and a direct approach and a kind heart. She enjoyed her family, dogs, watching her favorite show General Hospital and all sports on TV, especially if Steph Curry or the Yankees were playing. She enjoyed a special relationship with a small group of family & friends that made her the happiest when visiting, taking her to appointments and talking on the phone. Special thanks to Dr. Nader Botros, his staff and nurses and aides at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital for the great care extended to mom, to Mercy Medical Center Hospice for your care and support and to the nurses and staff at the Laurels of Massillon. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday March 7 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at 11:00 am with Fr. Benson Opkara as celebrant, followed by burial in North Lawn Cemetery. The Family will greet visitors 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church. In Lieu of flowers, donations to Stark County Humane Society or Mercy Medical Center Home Health and Hospice Care, LLC are appreciated.
