Clare Y. Evans
Clare Yvonne Evans, born March 3, 1936 in Canton, Ohio passed away peacefully, June 22, 2024. Preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Julia and siblings: Fr. Martin Evans, Jim Evans, Mary Ann Villard, Br. Mark Evans OSB, Beth Evans and David Evans. Clare graduated from Timken Mercy School of Nursing in 1957, and served her community there as an RN for 53 years. She continued to serve by volunteering in the hospital gift shop for years after her retirement from nursing. She was an active, devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish at St. Benedict Catholic Church. In her younger days, she loved to golf and bowl, and traveled to seven countries. In her later years, she loved to play cards and gather with friends and family. She was a loving and cherished Aunt to Jean (Aaron) Stevens, Lisa (Mark) Macdonald, Jeremy (Crystala) Evans and Josh (Ronda) Evans, all of Indiana, and Katy Evans of Virginia. She also had 11 great and 5 great, great nieces and nephews, all whom she cherished. She also had an extensive group of caring friends that adopted her into their families, for whom she was eternally grateful. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 1, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin Peters as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the Wackerly Funeral Home. A Nurse Honor Guard Tribute will take place at 5:30 pm Sunday in the funeral home. Donations may be made in her name to the Northeast Ohio Nurse Honor Guard, P.O. Box 241424, Cleveland, Ohio 44124.
