Dale H. Thompson

Age 83, of Strasburg, died Friday March 19, 2021 following an extended illness. Born in Winding Gulf, WV. he was the son of the late Millard & Manila (Crawford) Thompson and had lived in the Stark/Tuscarawas county area most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam era and retired from the Navy as a Chief Gunner Mate. He also retired from the Ohio Historical Society work at Schoenbrunn Village. Dale was an avid hunter and fisherman. He survived by his sons: Dale Henry Thompson of Providence RI., Steven (Barbara) Thompson of Westerly RI., Dale Homer (Karen) Thompson of Mineral City; daughter Sherry (Ralph) Schie of Strasburg; sister: Sharon (Vernon) Smith of Coal City, WV; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years: Betty Thompson and brother: Kenny Thompson. A private service for the family will be held.
