Donald J. Lang

age 80, of Canton Township died Friday, April 30, 2021 of Alzheimer’s Disease at his home surrounded by his family. Born August 20, 1940 in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clarence & Blanche (Bryan) Lang. Don was a 1958 Central Catholic High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and worked at Ekco Products and Ford Motor Company. A constant reader, from Exodus and Trinity to Truman and all things Lincoln, Don was self-taught on the piano, a computer enthusiast, pilot licensed, a chess player and a fierce euchre player. Don loved working his gentleman’s farm on his John Deere tractor. He was a talker, a storyteller, an engaging persona that genuinely wanted to know how you felt and thought. Of all, his greatest passion was his family.

Don was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, American Legion Post #440, volunteered at the McKinley Library & Museum and the Stark County Library. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage. Brothers: Richard (Karol), Thomas (Beverly). Don raised six children: Theresa Lopez of Canton Township, Lisa (Dave) Stephens of Jackson Township, Joseph (Janet) of Canton, Chris (Jessica Falvo) of Canton Township, Jennifer (Scott) Saunders of Plain Township and Jeff (Sarah) of North Royalton. Seventeen grandchildren: Jill Anne (Bill), Joshua, Patrick (Kristen), Jacob, Lauren (Joey), Jonathan, Connor, Olivia, Caleb, Emma, Jackson, Sara, Nora, Sean, Ronan, Grady, Lucy. Four great-grandchildren: Quinn, Ariella, Kellett and baby to be. Also survived by lifelong friends Dick and Karen Baysinger.

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday at 10am at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Very Reverend John E. Sheridan STL as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family and friends may call Monday from 5pm-7pm at the Wackerly Funeral Home. Donations may be made in his name to St. Peter Catholic Church or Pegasus Farm www.pegasusfarm.org.
