Edwin M. Bond, Sr. age 97, of Canton died Thursday following an extended illness. Born in Danville, KY he had lived in the Canton area most of his life and had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a member of Christ the Servant Parish, Canton V.F.W. #3747, American Legion Post #44 and the former St. Paul Catholic Church in Canton. He is survived by his sons: Edwin (Donna Collins) Bond Jr, of Massillon, Shawn (Penny) Bond of Canton, Kim (Laura) Bond of Atlanta GA, Robin (Candy) Bond of Canton; daughter: Diane (William) Mullen of Canton; daughter-in-laws: Kay Bond, Debbie Bond; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Margaret Jayne Bond; second wife: Catherine Bond; sons: David Bond, Kevin Bond; grandson: David Bond Jr; great-grandson: Liam Bond; 7 brothers and 1 sister. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 am in Christ the Servant Parish with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening from 5 to 7 pm in the Wackerly Funeral Home. Donations may be made in his name to Christ the Servant Parish or the American Heart Association.
