James D. Garaux,
Age 61, died Thursday following a brief illness. Born in Canton he was the son of the late Merle & Audrey (Mann) Garaux, was a graduate of Perry High School and was a proud U.S. veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Beech Mennonite Church in Louisville, the Marine Corps League McKinley Detachment #277 where he served as Commandant, the Military Order of the Devil Dogs and enjoyed riding horses with his family at his sister’s farm. He is survived by his son: Shawn Waers Garaux of Canton; daughter: Andrea (Christopher) Bracken of Canton; sisters: Ruth Garaux of Canton, Connie Selway of Canton; grandchildren: Jaleo, Emily, Matthew, Audrey Lynn; step-grandchildren: Janessa, Hailey; countless nieces and nephews. A celebration of life is being planned at a later date. The Wackerly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Donations may be mad in his name to Akron Children’s Hospital of Toys for Tots.
