John Dragomier Obituary

John David Dragomier, age 80, entered The Church Triumphant on Saturday, August 6, 2022 to be with Our Lord after an extended illness. He was born in Canton, Ohio on December 9, 1941. Mr. Dragomier had quite an extensive career. He proudly served our country for four years active duty with the U.S. Navy, assigned to the Destroyer U.S.S. English (DD 696) as a Machinery Repairman 2rd class. He retired from Thomas & Betts Corporation in Southaven, MS in 2001 where he was employed as both a Manufacturing & Design Engineer. Prior to that, he held engineering positions at Central States Can Company in Massillon, OH, TRW Large Castings division in Minerva, OH and Tool and Die Designer for Chromalloy Castings in Tampa, FL. He also worked as Vice President and General Manager for Northern Technologies, Inc., in Canton, OH during its start-up period in the late eighties and early nineties. Mr. Dragomier loved sports, especially both Ohio State and McKinley High School football and basketball programs. He was a coach in the Canton Midget Football League, the Y.M.C.A. Basketball league and served as the Chief of the Wabansee Longhouse Nation of the Y.M.C.A. Indian Guide program. He is survived by his loving wife Karen (Hilborn) to whom he was married 59 years, one daughter, Suzanne Dragomier and one son, John Anthony and daughter-in-law Melinda (Johnson) Dragomier, two grandchildren, Anthony David and Grace Rebbeca Dragomier, all of Canton, one brother, Gary (Barb) and sister- in-law Lynne Dragomier, both of North Canton and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Dragomier and brothers, Dennis and Michael Dragomier. There will be no calling hours, and a celebration of life will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church Fannon Center on Saturday August 13, 2022 at 12:30 pm. Military honors and burial will be held in Sunset Hills Burial Park for family and friends prior to the celebration of life. The Wackerly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
