Joseph J. Fusko Sr.
Age 93, died Tuesday following an extended illness. A life resident of Canton he was the son of the late Nicholas & Pauline (Supey) Fusko. Joseph and his sister Dorothy attended Stark Grade School. When they started school, they only spoke Slovak. He graduated from Timken High School in 1946. He then served three years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked many jobs to support his family, was parts manager at Dravo/Marks and retired from Rish Equipment in 1985. He was a member and lector of Sacred Heart of Jesus Slovak Catholic Church, All Saints Catholic Church and Saint Anthony/All Saints Catholic Parish. He was a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols, Sacred Heart Action Group and worked Slovak Day for 31 years. He is survived by his sons: Joseph “Sam” (Sue) Fusko, Kim Fusko, Fred Fusko, Jaime Fusko, Michael Fusko all of Canton; daughter: Pam (Jim) Fletcher of Louisville; grandchildren: Nicole Fusko, Hilary Fusko, Shannon Kesgiropoulos, April Townsley, Shyloe (Drew) Stark; great-grandchildren: Tessa (Cody Nickels) Fusko, Dale (Alina Hendrickson) Sharp, Kerestyn Kesgiropoulos, Taso Kesgiropoulos; great great-grand-children: Laige Bradley, Glenn Sharp, Jaxson Nickels, Lyle Sharp, Khora Nickels and Milah Nickels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years: Eloise (Swartz) Fusko who died in 2014; sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and Bernard Cromi. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 am in the Wackerly Funeral Home with Fr. Thomas Krazewski officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Funeral Home. A memorial Mass is being planned for a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Aultman 5th floor Memorial North for the care he received.
