Joseph Schott Obituary

Joseph Louis Schott passed away on December 14, 2024, at the age of 82.  He was a lifelong resident of Canton, Ohio.  Joe is preceded in death by his wife June (Price), his parents Howard and Pearl (Crock) Schott and his grandson Harrison Schott. Joe met his late wife June at the age of 10 while playing neighborhood baseball. Joe married June in 1962 at the age of 20, and they were married for 59 years until her passing in 2021. Joe missed her terribly and often asked questions about Heaven that could not be answered. Joe attended The Ohio State University on academic and sports scholarships and was an avid Buckeye fan for life.  Joe completed his bachelor’s degree in three and a half years in December 1963. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant. Joe retired early as the Chief Financial Officer of Camelot Enterprises Inc. Joe often dressed his family in OSU attire to playfully taunt the University of Michigan fans with whom he worked. Joe was seen as a reserved and quiet man. His faith was paramount, and he believed that God and prayers to St. Jude helped him through critical times in his life. His family meant the most to him. He was a math wizard, and when his children were young, they loved asking him to do mathematical calculations mentally, as they were fascinated by the speed and accuracy at which he arrived at the answers. Joe often had his children listen to the radio to obtain the day’s stock market activities and share them with him.  His wife June called him “The FFA” (Family Financial Advisor), as he always helped his family with financial issues. Joe quietly supported multiple charities throughout his life and generously provided anonymous financial support to a widow and her children at his church. Joe was an unpretentious man who worked for others behind the scenes. Joe is survived by his children Joseph Schott (Peggy) of Mundelein, IL, Jennifer Schott of North Canton, OH and Jeannine (Scott) Neill of Stow, OH;  his grandchildren Nicholas, Benjamin, Adam, and Claire Neill, Daniel (Julia) Schutz, and Brandon (Samantha), Cameron, William, and James Schott; and his great grandchildren Addisen, Patrick, Bennett, Ryan, and Charlotte. He is also survived by his siblings Dean (Sandra) Schott, Mary (Phillip) Rohr, and Diane (James) Evans. Joe’s family finds peace knowing that June was waiting for him and lovingly welcomed him into paradise. The family would like to thank the staff of the Gables of Green who provided loving care and added laughter and kindness to his days. The family will celebrate his life with a private Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the Servant Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Finnerty as celebrant. Entombment will follow in North Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. In his honor rather than send flowers, do something kind for someone behind the scenes.
