Lawrence T. Wish, 83, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born on March 7, 1943, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Thaddeus and Mildred (Tope) Wish. He was a 1961 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He then attended Walsh College, where he was a standout member of the men's basketball team. A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during the Vietnam War and eventually retired from the Hoover Company after 30+ years of dedicated employment.
A man of strong faith, he was a devout member of Guardian Angels Parish at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a passionate sports enthusiast and a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns. He loved all sports, especially football and basketball, and found great joy in traveling to cheer on his grandchildren in their own endeavors.
Larry is survived by his sons: Michael Wish of Canton, David (Victoria) Wish of Bethel, CT, James (Janine) Wish of Tenafly, NJ; daughters: Gretchen Wish of St. Petersburg, FL, Bridget (Ryan) Fahey of Treasure Island, FL, Heather Wish of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Gerald (Ellen) Wish of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Mary Lou Kuemerle of Louisville; grandchildren: Summer, Hudsen, Maxwell, Braelyn, Amalie and Sandee.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra (Gill) Wish, following 46+ years of marriage.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 11:00 am at Guardian Angels Parish in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Bryan Tutas as celebrant. Burial with Military Honors to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be private for the family. The Wackerly Funeral Home are handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.
