Margaret Wackerly Obituary

Margaret A. Wackerly, age 90, was called home by God on 11/03/2018.  Margaret was born in Canton on January 9, 1928 where she lived most of her life.  As a young woman, she worked for her father at Marsino’s Confectionary which was located in downtown Canton. She met her husband, Robert H. Wackerly, on a hayride at St. Joseph School in 1944 and married her lifelong friend, companion, and in her own words, “a good man” on June 12, 1947.  She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Canton.   Margaret loved taking care of her family and took pride in the fact that she was a stay at home mom.  After her husband retired, she enjoyed spending winters at their home in Ft. Pierce, Fl.  She loved making ceramics and gifting them to her family.  Margaret shared a special bond and friendship with her daughter and their countless lunch and shopping adventures will be missed.  We will always remember the family tradition of making “Grandma Marsino’s” homemade raviolis, and we will continue to pass it down through the generations.  Although she will be greatly missed by all who knew her, she is now reunited with her loving husband, Robert, who passed away February 17, 2015 and her youngest son, Fred, who passed away suddenly on January 17, 2008.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, Raymond S. and Anna (Baker) Marsino, her twin sister, Mildred Marsino (Bryan), and brother, Raymond Marsino Jr.   Survived by son, John & daughter-in-law Janet Wackerly of Surfside Beach, South Carolina,  and daughter, Carol (Wackerly) Bump & son-in-law Mark Bump of North Canton,  daughter-in-law, Grace Wackerly of Massillon.  She leaves behind six grandchildren.  Three grandsons, Robert (Dena) McKee of Green, Ohio, Justin (Stefeny) Wackerly of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and Keven (Julie) Bump of Verona, Wisconsin.  Three granddaughters Leah (Lee) Bender of Akron, Melissa (Zack) McCoury of Charlotte, North Carolina and Angela (Mehdi) Mehranfar of San Francisco, CA.  Eight great grandchildren, Maxwell and Margaret McKee, Aleni and Anden Bender, Talia and Xavier McCoury, Gwyneth Wackerly & Arlo Mehranfar.  Numerous nieces & nephews.  A special thanks to the Inn at Whitewood Village and Crossroads Hospice for all their love and care for mom.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday at 10:00 am in St. Paul Catholic Church, North Canton, with Fr. Marian Babjak as celebrant.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Calling hours will be on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Wackerly Funeral Home.

”We will miss you every single day, but are relieved that you are finally released from the grips of this horrible disease.  Rest now, mom.  Free of confusion with a clear mind and a happy heart.  Dad has been waiting for you with open arms.”
