Mary Wheeler Obituary

MARY JANE WHEELER

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mary Jane Wheeler (Jane) passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday Sept 1, 2021 at the age of 78 years.

Jane truly loved life and she also loved a good meal, a good song, a good book, a good vacation, and a good party.  Jane was not only the best mom ever but also a devoted grandparent and great grandparent, always present at every function.  She worried about us constantly and supported us in everything we did (even if she shouldn’t have).  Her faithfulness to her family was fierce and she was always our biggest fan.   Jane was truly compassionate and forgiving to everyone, always making sure everyone was cared for. Casually mentioning that you wanted or needed something lead Jane on a search, or into the kitch4en to cook, we never wanted for anything!

She baked a mean cheesecake, always had a batch of hot chocolate chip cookies ready, and had perfected the original Red Cake and ho-ho cake, often baking for friends of friends that had heard about her desserts.   She was rarely seen without her hair done and a tube of lipstick was always in her pocket.  Copper Spark was her favorite.

Jane was born March 16, 1943 to Andrew & Mary Fomich.  Preceded in death by her parents, Brother Andrew, and Sisters Betty & Josephine.  She is survived by her husband, Gene with whom she would have celebrated 58 years of marriage this October.  Survived by Sisters, Margaret (Donald) Zaitz, Susan Bowling and Rose Aquino, Her children, Denise (David) Hussar, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Wheeler and Steven (Bridget) Wheeler.  Grandchildren, Alexa (Anthony) Goffus, Kristina (Chad) Freeman, Brittany (Jake) Speck, Jordan Wheeler, Andrew Hussar, Elizabeth Wheeler, Kacey Wheeler and Benjamin Wheeler.  Great Grandchildren, Carter & Kamden Freeman, Kolson James, Harvey, Monroe & Malone Speck, Ellie & Baby Boy Goffus.  All of whom she loved and cherished deeply.

She was a graduate of St. Johns, Central Catholic High School and Timken School of Nursing.  She was a member of Christ the Servant Catholic Parish and was an LPN working at the Arbors of Canton.   She never hesitated to bestow gifts on residents, TVs, clothes or just conversation.   She never wanted a Thank You and often never told them where the gifts came from.   She was a good nurse.

Jane was Timeless and our hearts are broken.  Life will never be the same without her.  We will always love you Janie, Mom, Grandma, Aunt, Sister and Friend. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 10:00 am at Christ the Servant Catholic Parish in Our Lady of Peace Church with Msgr.

Lewis F. Gaetano as celebrant. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Friday evening (TONIGHT) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Wackerly Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations can made to St. Johns Food Pantry 627 McKinley Ave NW Canton, OH 44703. Personal condolences are invited on line at: www,wackerlyfuneralhome.com
