Marylouise (Pope) Gelal

Marylouise (Pope) Gelal, 92, of Ponte Vedra Beach, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, May 6, 2025.

Born on October 6, 1932, in Cleveland, OH, to Benjamin and Helen Pope, Marylouise moved to Canton, OH, at the age of Six. She was a proud graduate of McKinley High School, where she shined as a majorette and swing band singer. She was also a devoted wife and mother.

Mary Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Gelal Sr., on August 1, 2016, and her son, Charles Gelal Jr., on August 25, 2001, her brother Joseph Pope and sister Joan Halter.

She is survived by her cherished daughter, Terri Gelal, and her life partner Rick Hollabaugh of Ponte Vedra Beach Fl; her dear sister, Cindy Crowell, of Kalamazoo, MI; and her adored grandchildren, Caitlin (Brandon) Campbell and Cari Gelal. She also leaves behind her loving nieces—Kim (Lonnie) Moran, Vicky (Brett) Dodds, and Tracy (Dave) Free—along with her great-nephew, Matthew (Kristin) Moran, and great-nieces, Taylor (Chase) Sullivan, Josie (Joseph) Margevich, and Halie Dodds and great great nephew Charles Wesley Sullivan.

A Christian burial service will be held at 11 AM on July 26, 2025, at Forest Hill Graceland Cemetery in Canton, Ohio with the Very Reverend Dr. David M. Misbrener officiating.
