Phyllis A McNeil passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026. She was born in Joplin MO in 1936 to Ellis and Rose Hamilton.
Throughout her life, Phyllis lived in Missouri, Kansas, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Ohio; always embracing the adventure of making a home for her family in a new city. She was a longtime member of St Peter’s Catholic Church in Canton. After raising her kids, Phyllis worked at Sears and at Penneys. In her retirement, she enjoyed mystery novels, volunteering at Mercy hospital, and continually decorating and redecorating her home.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jack and Charlie Hamilton, her sister Dorothy Wheeler, and her beloved husband Harold “Eddie” McNeil. She is survived by her six children; John “Eddie” McNeil of Canton, Catherine (Mike) Wolf of Florida, Judith (Ted) McNeil-Kelly of New York, Peggie (Rich) Lewis of Maryland, James McNeil of Beijing, and Patrick McNeil of Canton. She is survived by her 11 grandchildren and her 9 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00 am in St. Peter Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Dr. David M. Misbrener, D.Min as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the Wackerly Funeral Home.
