Robert W. Jones, Sr.

Age 97, died Wednesday June 26, 2024 following a brief illness. Born in Cleveland he was the son of the late Kenneth & Erma (Geesaman) Jones and had lived in Canton of his life. He was a graduate of Canton Lincoln High School, served in the U.S. Army during WW II, retired from Dominion East Ohio Gas Company, was a member the American Legion Canton Post #44 and a former member of the American Legion North Industry Post. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Hambach) Jones of Canton; son, Robert (Patricia) Jones Jr. of Smithburg, MD; sister, Marilyn Guittar of Reynoldsburg, OH; grandchildren: Robert Jones III, Benjamin (Kelly) Jones, Phillip Jones, Sarah (Mitchell) Race, great-grandchildren: Paige, Kendall, Benjamin Keith, Phoenix, Sadie, Max, Mary and Alison.. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Jones; brothers: Richard Jones and Kenneth Jones.  Funeral services will be Monday July 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Wackerly Funeral Home with Rev. Gary A. Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Monday one hour before the service in the funeral home.
