Obituary

Roger S. Ames

Age 72, died Tuesday April 4, 2023 following an extended illness. Born in Richburg, NY he was the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Sheflin) Ames. He was an U.S. Army veteran, graduate of Akron University  earning a degree in Drafting and Design and worked at Nicholas Field Service before retiring from Akins Surveying in 2018. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where he served in the Marriage Couple Preparation Program, coached Canton Mighty Mite Baseball and worked bingo for St. Peter’s Grade School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Roger is survived by his wife: Cecelia (Ritton) Ames; sons: Andrew (Diana) Ames of Hornell, NY, Mathew (Byronny Byrnes) Ames of North Canton, Mark (Jessica Westfall) Ames of East Canton; daughter: Crissandra (Gary) Plank of Hornell, NY; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
