Susan E. Harst
Age 77, of Jackson Twp., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, following an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Stark County, she was the daughter of the late Richard A. and Margaret E. (Crawford) DeCorps. Susan was a 1965 graduate of Canton Lehman High School and retired in 2018 from the family business, Microplex Inc. She carried with her a lifelong love for the Basilica of St. John the Baptist and the Catholic faith. Susan enjoyed gardening, grilling on her patio, working Sudoku puzzles, and cruising with the top down in her convertible. She was also an animal lover and cherished the companionship of her two cats. Above all, she treasured her faith and the time she spent with her grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy. She is survived by her son, Jon (Jenny) Harst Jr. of Bloomfield, MI; her daughter, Valerie (John) Walters of Jackson Twp.; and her former husband, Jon Harst Sr., with whom she shared her children. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Jeannie Harst of Jackson Twp., and her beloved grandchildren: Casey, Courtney, Johnny, Nathan, Anna, Ryan, Libby, Cam, Drew, and Joey In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Eric Harst (2024); her brother, Richard DeCorps; and sisters, Beatrice (DeCorps) Campbell and Marilyn (DeCorps) Meinert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist with the Very Rev. David M. Misbrener, Rector. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
