Thomas E. Maurer, 1939-2018

age 79, of Canton, died Friday in Alliance Community Hospital following a brief illness. A life resident of Canton he was the son of the late Daniel & Ruth (Daniels) Maurer. He attended Central Catholic High School and worked as a Canton City School crossing guard.

Tom was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he served as a church usher, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. He is survived by his sister: Jean (David) Griggy of Massillon; brothers: Raymond (Norma) Maurer and James (Karen) Maurer all of Canton. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. John E. Sheridan, STL as celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the Wackerly Funeral Home. Donations may be made in his name to St. Peter Catholic Church.
