Thomas R. Wackerly, born September 8, 1940, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025. Tom earned his accounting degree from Kent State University and spent many years in the banking industry, where his dedication and professionalism were recognized with the Bob Colaner Award from the Institute of Financial Education. He also taught real estate finance classes, sharing his knowledge and experience with others. Active in the Jaycees and Chamber of Commerce for many years, Tom gave generously of his time to support his community. He also served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard. Tom cherished time with his family, enjoyed peaceful days spent fishing, and never missed a chance to cheer for his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Theora (Hambach) Wackerly, and his son, David. Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Joan (Lee) Wackerly; his son, Rick (Amy) Wackerly; and grandchildren Brian Wackerly, Lauren (Kyle) Bachmann, Theo (Lyndia) Wackerly, and Emily Wackerly. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Jack Shonk and Jimmy (Mary Lou) Lee, along with several nieces and nephews. Tom will be remembered for his warmth, steady presence, and deep love for family. Friends may call Saturday November 1, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Wackerly Funeral Home. A private service for the family will take place with Fr, Edward L. Beneleit officiating. Burial will be in Warstler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aultman Hospice, the Aultman Cancer Center, or the Canton Food Bank in his memory.
