William Thomas, 72, of Canton, passed away Thursday, June 19th, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital. Born in Alliance, Ohio on September 22, 1952, a son of the late John Thomas and Martha (Lelesch) Betts. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, sister Karen Mayle, 3 brothers Jim Thomas, Dan Thomas, Ken Thomas. Bill spent his entire life in the garage, where his love for cars truly came to life. He had a deep passion for muscle and classic cars, and he especially enjoyed the thrill of drag racing. His legacy will live on through the engines he brought to life and the memories shared with those who knew his passion. Survived by his daughters: Stacy Thomas, Jessica (Chad) Runkle, Lynsey (Adam) Thomas; sister-in-law Mary Thomas; grandchildren Chelsea, Brandon, Aubree, Caiden, Adam (Hot rod); great grandchildren Liam, Oakley as well as other numerous family members and many good friends. Funeral services will be Friday at 12 noon in the Wackerly Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Mayle officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Friday morning from 11:00 am to 12 noon in the funeral home.
